In my last post I asked if anyone knew of some great female photographers.  I asked because I was working on a street photography book which would feature inspiring photographers from around the globe.  A year later and this book is finally out!

The New Street Photographer's Manifesto - www.amazon.co.uk/The-New-Stree…

It's a handy guide that goes through everything you need to know about street photography, and it features a showcase with some highly talented up and coming inspiring photographers – many of whom I've had the pleasure of knowing thanks to this place right here - deviantArt.

So if you're interested in street photography at all, or know anyone who is, make sure you snap up a copy : ) It's not expensive, especially when you see who it features!

Charlotte Gonzalez Gonzale
Brian Quentin Webb bQw
Seamus Travers Treamus
Severin Koller coxi
Felix Lupa felixlu
Danny Santos dannyst
Claire Atkinson hardtomakeastand
Antonio Wijkmark DRIVINGYOU
Ronya Galka
Mustafah Abdulaziz
Ferhat Celik

It's available internationally and if you can't find it on your local Amazon then check your country's online bookstores.  It should be out in the shops next week!  Thanks to everyone who was a part of this!  It's just a snapshot of the talent that this community has brought to the table.

Can anyone name any good/reputable female street photographers? If so please link me!

-----------

EDIT - I have around 4 names now.. seriously, people.  Where are all the female street photographers hiding? Do they exist or not?  I had never thought about it before but this seems to be a genre that is clearly and completely male-dominated.

Elliott Erwitt

Tonight I'm going to a Q&A with Elliott Erwitt.  Can anyone think of any interesting questions to ask him? : )
I'm tempted to ask if he can take a photo of me.. >_<

Update:
Elliott Erwitt is officially amazing, hilarious and inspiring.

Want to be successful (money-wise) at photography? His advice - take photos of celebrities.

Update 2:
You can read more about this in my photoblog - www.tanya-n.com/?p=680

Wow, so dA is 10 years old?! Incredible.  I have to say, I'm pretty damn proud to be a part of this community despite my slight absence over the past few months!

Some things really don't change; the whingers still continue to whinge. Can we not just appreciate good art people?! Surely that's why we're all here?

If you have an interest in Street and Photojournalism don't forget to check out the Street-PJ group: street-pj.deviantart.com/.&nbs… to everyone who has submitted so far; we've got a great collection of pictures and we're continuing to build on that.  Please recommend any interesting photographers, particularly those who are new or who haven't had much exposure and who clearly deserve it.

I've just discovered MattDestroyer, a Combat Photographer (what a job!) currently based in Afghanistan.  His gallery gives a great insight into life in the military which is quite fascinating.

Go follow him and support his work :)

Right - time to go through 13k messages :o

Ciao for now.

Apologies for the lame title.  I just said 'STOP - HAMMER TIME' to a friend which I decided to use as inspiration.

OK so it's been a fair while since I signed into dA.. I mean seriously.. everything looks so different! It took me a while to even figure out how to check certain messages, and what are these llama badges?! :o

I haven't really been taking lots of pictures lately - at least not since I came back from India 2 months ago. I really miss just walking the streets of London with my camera - I need to do more of that :)

I also tried out concert photography (a big thank you to straightfromcamera for the advice and inspiration!) which is immense! I love it and need to organise more of that. Ahh there's so much I want to do and so little time for everything.

Of course a journal is not complete without some form of spammage. I decided to follow in the footsteps of some of my friends and create a photography page on Facebook, so if you're on Facebook and like my work, please do join :aww: www.facebook.com/pages/Tanya-N…

Also - if any of you can suggest any great street photography/photojournalism sites or artists please share - I want some inspiration!

Hope you're all having a lovely Easter, whether you celebrate it in your part of the world or not.

Ciao for now,
T
